Konkurs za nagradu Mangelos za 2019 / Open Call For Mangelos Award 2019
Remont – nezavisna umetnička asocijacija iz Beograda i Fond "Ilija & Mangelos" iz Novog Sada raspisali su konkurs za Nagradu "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" za 2019. godinu.
Nagrada se dodeljuje vizuelnim umetnicima i umetnicama do 35. godine koji/e se aktivno bave umetnošću. Nagrada "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" se dodeljuje za osoben i izvanredan višegodišnji umetnički rad, koji podrazumeva zaokruženo kritičko i estetsko promišljanje i realizaciju, ostvarene u kontinuitetu.
U saradnji sa Residency Unlimited (Njujork) i uz podršku Trust for Mutual Understanding (Njujork), Nagrada "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" organizuje se i dodeljuje godišnje pojedincu ili pojedinki u vidu studijskog rezidencijalnog boravka u Njujorku, u trajanju od osam nedelja.
Nagradni studijski rezidencijalni boravak u Residency Unlimited za 2019. godinu biće organizovan u periodu oktobar – novembar.
Nagrada nosi ime značajnog umetnika, rodonačelnika konceptualne umetničke prakse i istoričara umetnosti sa prostora bivše Jugoslavije Dimitrija Bašičevića Mangelosa, a ove godine će biti dodeljena 18. put.
Propozicije:
Na konkurs se mogu prijaviti umetnici i umetnice rođeni/e posle 31. decembra 1983. godine.
Na konkurs se mogu prijaviti državljani/ke Republike Srbije, kao i umetnici/ce koji/e nisu državljani/ke Srbije, ali čiji su umetnički razvoj/profesionalni angažman vezani za umetničku scenu u Srbiji.
Kandidati i kandidatkinje treba da imaju najmanje tri godine profesionalnog/izlagačkog iskustva, a poželjno je da imaju završene najmanje osnovne studije.
Umetnik/ca mora imati najmanje jedan umetnički rad realizovan tokom prethodne dve godine.
Neophodno je poznavanje engleskog jezika.
Konkurs je otvoren od 15. marta do 6. maja 2019. godine.
Prijavljivanje se obavlja u dva obavezna koraka:
1. onlajn, na sajtu Nagrade "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos"
Onlajn prijava treba da sadrži formular popunjen na sajtu mangelosnagrada.org.rs, posle čega će kandidat elektronskom poštom dobiti uputstvo za onlajn registraciju i upload kraće verzije portfolia. Formular je moguće popuniti ovde
2. dostavljanjem štampanog portfolija na adresu: Remont – nezavisna umetnička asocijacija, Maršala Birjuzova br. 7, Beograd, svakog radnog dana od 12 do 17 sati. U slučaju da se portfolio šalje poštom, uz navedenu adresu treba dodati naznaku: ZA KONKURS "DIMITRIJE BAŠIČEVIĆ MANGELOS"
Portfolio treba da sadrži:
- ime, prezime, e-mail adresu, telefon,
- CV na srpskom i engleskom jeziku,
- vizuelni materijal - prikaz do 10 radova. Video radovi mogu da se predstave na dva načina: 1) unošenjem linka na odgovarajućem mestu u onlajn formularu, ukoliko video radovi postoje na nekom od video servisa (YouTube, Vimeo); 2) CD/DVD sa radom/radovima moguće je doneti u prostorije Remonta – nezavisne umetničke asocijacije),
- tekstove – kratka objašnjenja radova na srpskom i engleskom jeziku (najviše 2.000 karaktera sa razmakom po radu).
Napomena: obavezno dostaviti i PDF portfolija na CD-u (maksimalno 5 MB).
Rok za onlajn prijavu i dostavljanje portfolija je 6. maj 2019. do 17 sati. Ukoliko se portfolio šalje poštom, pošiljka mora biti poslata najkasnije 6. maja 2019. (pečat na koverti).
Nagrada – studijski rezidencijalni boravak u Njujorku:
Za dobitnika/cu Nagrade obezbeđeni su troškovi vize, zdravstveno osiguranje, putni troškovi, smeštaj i dnevnice za vreme boravka u Njujorku, kao i samostalna izložba u Beogradu po povratku iz Njujorka.
Izbor dobitnika/ce i finalista/kinja:
Žiri u sastavu: Katarina Kostandinović (istoričarka umetnosti i kustoskinja, Kulturni centar Beograd), Stevan Vuković (teoretičar umetnosti, Beograd), Dušan Savić (freelance kustos, Beograd), Sandra Bradvić (istoričarka umetnosti, Cirih/Sarajevo i osnivačica Udruženja Sklop, Sarajevo) i Nadežda Kirćanski (umetnica i dobitnica Nagrade “Mangelos” za 2018) odabraće do pet finalista i finalistkinja, sa kojima će obaviti intervjue kako bi odlučio o dobitniku/ci Nagrade.
Onlajn konkursni materijal će u celosti biti dostupan na sajtu Nagrade nakon 6. maja 2019.
Prvi krug žiriranja biće održan nakon 15. maja 2019. godine. Drugi krug žiriranja i intervjui sa finalistima/kinjama (na srpskom i engleskom jeziku) biće organizovani nakon 1. jula 2019.

Luers, osnivačica i direktorka Fondacije za civilno društvo (Foundation for a Civil Society) 1990. godine je sa sa tadassnjim predsednikom Vaclavom Havelom i grupom umetnika disidenata u Čehoslovačkoj osnovala Nagradu "Jindrich Chalupecky“, sa idejom da se umetnicima i umetnicama mlađim od 35 godina prizna umetnička izuzetnost i da im se omogući iskustvo boravka u SAD. Residency Unlimited (RU) je organizator programa YVAA i domaćin rezidencijalnih boravaka u Njujorku od 2015. godine.

OPEN CALL for the "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" Award 2019
Remont – Independent Artistic Association from Belgrade – and the "Ilija & Mangelos" Foundation from Novi Sad are pleased to announce an open call for the "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" Award 2019.
The "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" Award is open to visual artists up to 35 years of age actively involved in art. It honors exceptional and outstanding ongoing artistic practice, which includes well-rounded critical and aesthetic thinking and implementation.
In cooperation with Residency Unlimited (New York) and supported by the Trust for Mutual Understanding (New York), "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" Award is organized annually. It provides the awarded artist with the eight weeks long art residency in Residency Unlimited.
In 2019, studio residency at Residency Unlimited is organized in October and November.
The Award, which carries the name of Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos, a significant artist and art historian and one of the founders of conceptual art practice in former Yugoslavia, will be awarded for the seventeenth time this year.
Propositions:
- The Award is open to artists born after December 31st, 1983.
- The artists eligible to apply can either be citizens of the Republic of Serbia, or those whose artistic practice and professional career are recognized in development of the art scene in Serbia.
- At least three years of professional experience / exhibiting practice. The minimum of completed graduate studies is preferable.
- At least one art work realized in the last two years.
- English language skills.
The open call duration: from March 15th to May 6th, 2019
Registration is composed of two stages:
1. Online, at the "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" Award website
Online applications should include a completed form on the website mangelosnagrada.org.rs, after which you will get the e-mail instructions for the online registration and the upload of the shorter version of your portfolio. The form can be filled out here
2. By submitting a printed portfolio to the address: Remont – Independent Artistic Association, Maršala Birjuzova 7, Belgrade, Monday to Friday from 12 to 5 pm. In case you are sending your portfolio by post, please make sure to clearly label the envelope with "for the Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos Award" note
The printed portfolio should include:
- Name, surname, address, phone, e-mail
- CV in Serbian and English
- Visual material presenting up to 10 art-works. Videos could be presented by 1) copying a link(s) to an appropriate space in an online form (in case the videos are uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo), or 2) by sending a physical copy on a CD/DVD to the address of Remont - Independent Artistic Association
- Brief texts / descriptions of works both in Serbian and English (up to 2000 characters with spaces per work)
Note: Portfolio in a form of PDF (maximum file size 5 MB) should be burnt on a CD as well.
Deadline for the online registration and submission of short portfolios is May 6th, 2019, 5 pm.
If sending portfolio by post, the postage stamp must be dated no later than May 6th, 2019
The award: studio residency in New York
The award winner will have all the expenses covered for the full duration of stay in New York (costs of visas, health insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and per diems) and additionally, s/he will be granted with a solo exhibition in Belgrade after return from New York.
The selection process:
The members of the jury: Katarina Kostandinović (art historian and curator, Cultural center Belgrade), Stevan Vuković (art theorist, Belgarde), Dušan Savić (freelance curator, Belgarde), Sandra Bradvić (art historian, Cirih/Sarajevo, founder of Association Sklop, Sarajevo), and Nadežda Kirćanski (artist and winner of “D.B. Mangelos” in 2018) will select up to 5 finalists in the first round of selection and interview the short-listed in order to decide over the award winner.
The list of candidates and all portfolios will be fully available online on "Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos" Award's website after May 6th, 2019.
The first selection round will take place after May 15th, 2019. The second round and the interviews with the finalists (in Serbian and English) will take place after July 1st, 2019. At the opening of the finalists' exhibition, the jury will announce the award winner.

Young Visual Artists Awards
In 1990, Wendy W. Luers, founder and director of the Foundation for a Civil Society, together with President Vaclav Havel and a group of dissident artists, first established the Jindrich Chalupecky Award in Czechoslovakia to recognize artistic excellence in young visual artists under 35 years of age and provide them with a U.S. residency experience.
The Young Visual Artists Awards program (YVAA) was established over several years as an international network of similar awards with support of the Trust for Mutual Understanding, an U.S. foundation. Today 10 European countries are part of this network: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. In 2015, Residency Unlimited (RU) was engaged as the organizer of the YVAA program and host of the New York residency programs.

Residency Unlimited (RU) is dedicated to the presentation, production and promotion of contemporary art through a number of activities within the residential and public programs. Located in Brooklyn, RU functions as a sort of hub, dynamic space which is organizing meetings of artists, curators, art professionals, exhibitions, screenings and discursive programs. In cooperation with institutions, organizations and individuals in New York, the United States and internationally, RU initiated and developed various forms of professional support for users of its residential program in last several years.
