War and Peace in the Balkans
The exhibition called War and Peace in the Balkans will open on September 3 at the Svetozar Markovic University Library in Belgrade.
The exhibition consists of photographs by five photographers and interviews with 12 historians about the impact of World War I on the population.
The exhibition will feature Lewis Hine (USA), whose photographs portray children who were victims of the war, and Ariel Vargas (USA), who was inspired by Thessaloniki as seen after the invasion by Entente troops.
Russia's Samson Chernov documented the retreat of the Serbian army across the Albanian mountains, while two anonymous military photographers - one German and one French - captured everyday life in the Balkans during the war and war crimes against civilians.
The program of the exhibition includes a screening of the film War and Peace in the Balkans on September 9 in the hall of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade.
The exhibition, organised by the Goethe Institute in Belgrade in cooperation with the Svetozar Markovic University Library, will be on view until September 30.
